happy holidays

it is time of the year again. christmas and a brand new year.

this year is particularly special for me, because this is the first time i am able to spend christmas and new year here at home. in jb. all years after high school, i always need to accommodate my working schedule therefore i can't even be back for any of the festive. so this is albeit the most lazy holidays yet the one i can spend with my family. anyway i am going for a short break to penang soon.

yesterday, woke up real early. only manage to slumber for about 2 hours before going for a short road trip back to my hometown, kluang. gotta send dad to work in the morning. then after breakfast, we girls and a cute lil bunny boy spend the whole day at kluang town wondering around. we went to our famous malay stall for lunch. we had rendang and vege and also grill fish *yummy* then we just wonder everywhere and eat all the time.

later in the afternoon where we are clueless to where to go, we decided to just pay my aunt a visit. to our greatest surprise, we say my other aunts and uncles from kl arriving at the same time. what a big big surprise. i had a fun time catching up with my.. erm.. cousins i suppose. too bad forgot to take any pictures of everyone.

later that nite, we went for a dinner appointment with faraway relatives of my dad's side. dinner's a blip. nothing much to say but i will post the photos next time around.

Good and bad: A tale of two hospitals

ON HARI Raya Haji earlier this month, my two-year-old son Ethan had a minor accident and cut his forehead while we were shopping at Bishan Junction 8. We rushed him to Mount Alvernia Hospital's accident and emergency department, which was a five-minute drive from Bishan.

After a 2 ½-hour wait, we finally got a chance to consult an attending doctor. After an initial look at Ethan's 2.5cm wound and asking how the accident happened, he asked if we had filed an insurance claim against the shop where it occurred, as most shops have public safety insurance or a similar policy. We said of course not. My husband Dylan told the doctor we had private medical insurance. His first recommendation was that we get a plastic surgeon as his skills would be better than that of a paediatric surgeon, as he would not leave a scar on Ethan's forehead. I was shocked as I did not think the cut warranted such a major procedure.

Before long, we were out of the doctor's room and an administrator advised us that a plastic surgeon would charge a consultation fee of $2,000 to $2,500, and surgery and hospitalisation (should we opt for it) would add a few thousand dollars. Throughout the consultation, Ethan's wound was not cleaned or disinfected until we asked for it to be done.

After a discussion, my husband and I decided to seek a second opinion and we headed to the A&E department at KK Women's and Children's Hospital. After a three-hour wait (it was very crowded), Dr Michaela Seng recommended and performed a short procedure - applying a local anaesthetic gel to numb the affected area before sewing up the cut. This was because Ethan's cut was small and non-jagged and his skin would heal fairly quickly due to his age. Dr Seng and her attending nurse, Mr Ryan Guo, were very professional and reassuring. Hence, half an hour after the procedure, we were on our way home with two bottles of paracetamol and a tube of Tetracycline ointment for post-suture wound care.

I still cannot comprehend why the doctor at Mount Alvernia's A&E department did not attend to Ethan or ask his nurses to disinfect his wound and offer us some effective treatment alternatives. Why did he focus more on the insurance issue, a referral to specialists and expensive and unnecessary treatments? As a doctor, should treatment of patients' conditions not come first?

My husband and I thank Dr Seng and her team of nursing staff at KKH's A&E department for treating Ethan's injury with urgency and patience. They set an excellent example to their counterparts, whose protocols and standards may require review by the authorities.

know why i am proud? the name in bold blue is my brother-in-law. he is a very caring guy who loves his job a lot. although he used to work in event line and thus earn i think more but still he choose to work in hospital just so he can help others. a very proud ambition and he has achieved it. something i wish i have.. no, not work as a nurse! but knows what i want and achieved it. be someone that can offer back to society.

i bet my sis is very very proud of him!

this adorable cute babe that is just the photocopy version of her dad is my baby niece! *muacks muacks.. she is celebrating her 1st birthday with other kids at nanny's place later at local time 7.30pm which her time is erm.. 3.30pm i think. how i wish all of us here are celebrating this precious memorable birthday together but then she's way over at seychelles.. far far away and well air ticket ain't cheap to go there.

early in the morning teh peng asked me whether wanna go mv or not cos its still darn early and he's driving out then in less than 20seconds he fell back to sleep. the phones keep on snoozing and snoozing. it is 10am now. i ask teh peng, 'woi, wake up ler.. no need work ar?' he replied, 'got appointment lar..' back to snooze. 11am. teh peng 'aiyo.. so late liao ar..' duh finally wake up and i continue my snooze. woke me up in less than 10 mins, my turn for shower and get ready.

drop me at mv about 12pm then he went to work. went walking aimlessly and felt bored shopping alone. cos got lots to buy but limited budget. that is why gotta survey, read ppl's blog and try the testers to decide if its really worth to get. was just telling sis the other day about my family size increase every year means my christmas list also increase its length *sigh..

met N during her short lunch break and we walk around anywhere and everywhere. after that i continue walking around myself. wanting to eat the portuguese grill fish but then sure got loads of ppl eating since it's public holiday and it felt weird eating it all alone. so better wait for teh peng and go eat sometime this week then.

someone play truant and get off work early at 4. pick me up and we went to ss2 for late lunch and had our fave 'liu wei tang' *yummy* then we head down to the curve just so i can continue my survey of the things i wish to buy but depends on my budget e.g mascara, foundation, toner, eyeliner, facial wash, new phone, groceries, christmas gifts and so on and so forth.

went home about 7pm and cooked dinner for teh peng and me then we just relax and watch tv. after that i got to watch my fave tv series gilmore girls and soak my feet in hot water for about 30mins. then shower and drop dead on my bed. what a day..

oh ya, my house hunting.. went everywhere and anywhere and finally found a place we wish could call home for about a year before my next move. it's the apartment at flora damansara. i only want block f and 21st floor above and only the last corner lot. anyone who knows the agent please give me a call k. i would love to rent it. the view i believe would be superb!

a day with V

yesterday morning after work went to pick V up with S. after that we went to eat the always talked about but never eaten before zhu yuk fun at oug. wah seafood zhu yuk fun. tasty and superb. the place is packed with eaters and almost all the tables is eating this particular stall of noodle. *slurps*

then we went to sunway to find mr daddy-soon-to-be. crapped for a while and dated him for dinna then we went shopping of our own *haha.. V bought a big bag for work and me didn't buy anything. wanna try shoes but wearing my sneakers so lazy to take out and nothing is fancy except the 50% and 70% discount sign *LOL

went to yum cha at the asian avenue and waited damn damn long for our food and drinks to be served. all meals treated by V.. aww.. so kind of her. thanks lots dearie. then we waited.. time ticking to 4.45pm then 5pm. then 6pm *sigh must have been a busy day for K. then at 6.15 we went down to outlet and look for him for our dinner date.

sent V back to connaught by 8pm so she can go back to pahang on time. then i continue my shopping to 1u. bought some facial product and swear i will not buy anything anymore for the month. then i spotted something shiny and waving its arms asking me to go near it.. am in the newly opened cold storage and saw this beauty. a special limited christmas m&m's chocolate edition. *aww.. should i or should i not buy it??? it is so irresistible! dah lah, is m&m's chocolate, christmas edition lagi. oh my.. i must not go 1u anymore.

we are planning to go out and hang around again next saturday when V come back again from pahang. asked K to take mc *evil grin* and i shall just take the day off though there's a workshop going on *hehe

gotta go.. wanna go eat brekkie then go house hunting. teh peng and me decided to move out from our current place. i love moving and i hate staying with hypocrites! enough said.

thursday evening after work happily go to ikano to buy some stationery for WAT. then after that i bought YH's christmas gift. posted it out on sat morning so should be able to get it before christmas.

then go walk around and saw D. at work in his rented stall so went up and did some catch up with him. he told us few different stories and for just a moment then i was stunt by it. i mean those things are happening to my friends and while it is how they choose to live their, erm, let's just say fucked up life and not a problem of mine, still.. it is a wonder they can tolerate this kinda stuff. gosh.. unimaginable!

what is so unimaginable? scenario a: guys can sleep with one girl, get himself another girl to sleep with. scenario b: father of 2 kids in tow is out having affair with another girl and the most fucked up things? both the girl from scenario a and b is the same girl and to think the guys are actually colleagues. wtf! dammit they are just so sick. and from what D told me, the girl actually has a bf of her own. sick!!

let's just move on this thing that is happening really makes me sick!

today's sunday and promised V will go find her before she goes back to pahang tonight. where shall we go? everywhere will be jam packed by holiday go-er and i still need to do my christmas shopping. sigh.. broke once again for this month ):

i am back

finally i am back to my blog.. duh.. been typically busy and lazy~ here's some update about my life for the past week. nothing unusual though.

went to sunway pyramid on the weekend and had cendol with mr. K. hey, soon-to-be daddy, hope you have an adorable and healthy lil babe soon. then pretty nothing much because i have sworn off ice-skating. moreover S's not letting me. well. its alright, ain't a big fan anyway. effin tired and went home to sleep.

tue's a blur. reach office to pack some last minute packing then head to old klang road for breakfast and lunch at 3pm with S. after that 4.10 out sg. besi toll. took me about freaking long 2 hrs plus to reach ponderosa golf and country club at tmn molek jb. pheww. finally. then check in and discovered someone had already done that! oh my.. luckily, its G. everything's another blur again so ended up 12am only eat dinna at mcd.. -.-''

wed's a day of moving and searching for the unfound banquet staff. fucking pathetic. had to move the whole function room by ourselves and deco it. wtf. worse thing is, no concierge to help and no bellboy to carry stuff and no banquet staff to move the things. fucking lame and fucking hate those pathetic shitty a**holers! no next time is the verdict. fucking worst hotel/club i have ever stayed!

thur's a smooth sailing day with just some minor hiccups along the way.

fri's a blast. thanks from deep in my heart to Candice and DT, TJ and Nicole, Grace, Joe, and Kah Mun. i believe we have already given those suckers participants with the disneyland adventure, if you guys remembers it! *winks* i heart you guys a lot and hope there's some other chances for this kinda success ya. went back home at about 12am.

sat's a travelling day. wake up at 5am by mom to look for my car key *duh* dad keeps it in his pocket all along. whatta bother to wake me up for nothing. then wake up again at dunno what time and shower then breakfast then went balik kampung. thought of going back to visit grandma but then we shop til too late *aiks* so til month end only i visit you ya grandma.. shop for our surprise unhealthy and delightful christmas gift for the Renaud family over in seychelles. we bought chocolates, instant noodle, tidbits, snacks etc and gift wrap it and ready to be post, erm, ah, well, this sat if possible. most probably yeah, i can post it out this sat.

sun's went out shopping again and then mom packed some food for T and me to be brought back to wherever we came from. LOL. T is home just because of me and she has this ugly hole in her back. poor babe.. get well soon k. i shall meet you guys in SGP on the 24th for the squeezy ball mission! love my family real lots, even the grumpy dad included. oh ya, the duck as well.. drive back to kl took a longer time about 3hrs plus nearly to 4, jam in seremban and sigh went outta petrol nearly gimme a heart attack in the middle of the jam.

planning a road trip with T and R. well let's plan it this way sis, i take a coach back to SGP and meet up with you guys on the 24th and then go get my squeezy ball *its i.m.p.o.r.t.a.n.t!!* and had our christmas eve dinna as usual. then go back to mom's place and hibernate for a couple of days. next we took a coach to kl and pick my xiao bai up so we can go for road trip up north. whaddya think? since we have never been to up north by ourselves?? let me know the verdict k. heart you lots..
